Top Durban interior designer Frans Alexander shares his thoughts on this year’s colour of the year: “This is a wonderful colour which can be used to enrich rooms and add warmth. I would encourage people to use different shades and undertones of the colour. Décor elements
Source decorative elements such as a scatter cushions, planters or ornaments in coral to add just a pop of colour.

Paint
Paint a wall or piece of furniture using Living Coral. If you’re feeling bold get a professional to spray paint a piece of antique furniture for a statement piece.

Wallpaper
Wallpaper is very on-trend at the moment. A wall mural that’s bold with an oversized print is exactly what every interior needs. Wallpapering all the walls in a room is becoming quite popular and, if you are a bit daring, select a room such as a guest loo to totally ‘go over the top’!

Plants and flowers
For those who prefer a neutral colour palette, adding colour with flowers and plants can make an incredible impact.

.

Rugs
You will find beautiful rugs with bold floral designs that are very fashionable and will make a statement in an otherwise toned-down space. Paint with neutral colours and mix with darker natural tones or lighter tones, depending on the mood of the room.
