We tested out a nonsurgical, non-invasive radio frequency facial

With its promise of improving contours and repairing skin and sagging on both the body and face, Monique De Villiers-Delport was very excited to try out a nonsurgical, non-invasive radio frequency facial called the Beauty Booster at the Institute of Aesthetic Options at The Pearls Mall.

As a woman approaching my thirties, the concept of aesthetic beauty treatments as a smart, fast way to reduce or eliminate the signs of aging, excites me. It is incredible to know that there are endless options and technologies that can offer a complete solution to our beauty worries and concerns.

As soon as I walked into the clean and ultra-modern Institute of Aesthetic Options, I knew I was in good hands. I was a little nervous at first, not knowing anything about the ‘Beauty Booster’ that I was about to experience. But the therapist, Eunice, put my mind at ease as she led me to the treatment room and explained how the ultrasound high energy radio frequency would work on my skin.

I found it super impressive that many of their clients come in for the quick and effective 30 to 45-minute treatment during their lunch break and leave with no downtime or redness. Your make-up can even be reapplied immediately afterwards.

This particular facial is popular amongst women who experience dehydration and volume loss through decreasing levels of hyaluronic acid (HA) in the skin, resulting in decreased water retention and contributing to a loss of volume and the exacerbation of wrinkles and signs of aging. The deceleration of metabolic processes leads to slower regeneration of collagen and elastin in the skin and accelerates aging.

The treatment uses radio frequency on the body and the face to stimulate the skin’s collagen production which causes it to rebuild its own support structure and rejuvenation which can last for years.

A series of in-motion wands using water molecules are rotated on the skin, boosting blood and lymph flow and the skin’s overall metabolism. A power capacity of 300 watts and energy loss and depth control within the relevant layers of skin result in optimal rejuvenation of the skin with no down time or damage to organs, blood vessels or nerves. Results are evident after just one treatment, with reduced lines, blemishes and wrinkles. Long term benefits include helping strengthen the skin, reduce pigmentation and acne scars and the breaking down fat cells.

The treatment was in no way painful or uncomfortable and I felt as if I was having a face massage – forcing me to relax, lying down with my eyes closed! It was great to escape the hustle and bustle of life for just 45 minutes and enjoy some ‘me time’. After the treatment my skin looked brighter and healthier and I definitely saw further improvement in the look and feel of my skin over the next couple of days.

After my facial, I was taken to the drip bar to relax on one of their comfortable reclining chairs for an immune-boosting intravenous therapy. Intravenous vitamin injections are a popular treatment at The Institute of Aesthetic Options, perfect for people who are constantly on the go and travelling. They offer a variety of IV drips containing extra high dosages of vitamin c, minerals, antioxidants and electrolytes to boost your immune system, detoxify the body and increase strength and energy and are an effective way to supplement your hectic lifestyle. The very gentle and bubbly Christelle inserted my drip with no discomfort and I then relaxed with a cup of tea and magazine for 30 minutes while dosing up on the good stuff!

Overall, I had a lovely two hours in the very capable and caring hands of the therapists. Their knowledge of defying age and their holistic approach to beauty is evident in their practice and

I cannot wait to further enjoy their full bouquet of treatments on offer.
