 Take us down memory lane?

I established the business on 1 April 1999 in a spare room at home.  With two young boys and a third son on the way, an 8-5pm job, with no flexibility started to take its toll.  I couldn’t imagine not doing what I loved most, hence, Dixie Recruitment was born. At the time, I never had plans to grow the business but through word of mouth referrals from both candidates and clients, we have had the most fulfilling journey.  We have been in our current offices for 14 years.  Values are the very core of our business.  Our greatest success has been our reputation which is thanks to the Team Dixie, who has built our brand by living our values every day.

What is your greatest achievement?

My greatest achievement has been our staffing model.  We employ women whose meaningful careers have been cut short due to the responsibility of motherhood and lack of flexibility in their career. Every woman in our business has hard-earned knowledge, insight, maturity and leadership. They are all motivated by success but they value their families too.

We only have one rule – provide exceptional customer service but never miss out on your children’s special moments.  Trust is a wonderful thing; it means I never have to manage my team.

We are a niche agency and only focus on management recruitment in the Financial Accounting, Supply Chain, Engineering, IT, Digital/Marketing and HR space. Each consultant is a specialist in their core discipline and knows exactly where to find exceptional talent.

What is unique about the Dixie team?  

Our team is highly qualified and experienced – everyone has over 15 years working experience, some of us 30! The team is made up of like-minded and intelligent women who enjoy the flexibility that the business offers, while all being highly motivated to work smart and pursue excellence.

We keep our skills current and relevant so that we are equipped to assess the ever-changing technical skills in business.  Being a specialist means that each consultant has networks in all the right places and they enjoy meaningful client relationships and strong connections to their candidates.  Our dedicated talent researcher, Jenny, avoids traditional recruitment advertising. With her well-honed skills in digital search and brand marketing, we are able to source and attract exceptional, in-demand talent hiding in the passive talent pool.

What are you future plans?

As part of our 20th year celebration, we are launching an associated company called Office Talent.

Office Talent will specialise in the recruitment of top calibre Office Support and Admin professionals in Durban.  There is an almost unmanageable volume of online applications in this space. Office Talent will address this challenge with a robust and streamlined screening process to find suitable talent to fulfil this gap in the market.
