There is a world of adventure and entertainment awaiting both young and old at Gateway Theatre of Shopping this festive season! They have a exciting festive lineup planned, including: a Lighthouse & Ocean Play area (from 1 December; Sweetopia (a delicious sweet fantasy world with awesome rides and props, from 11 December, R10 per person); a giant plush Disney tree charity drive (until 10 January, donate R50 and help donate a Disney soft toy to children of the Smile Foundation); live entertainment in the Palm Court (16 – 22 December and 26 – 30 December, 6pm – 9pm) and charity gift wrapping for Reach for a Dream (16 – 24 Dec).

The much-loved Durban Trail of Lights is back on from 11 to 30 December at the Botanical Gardens. The gardens will once again be festooned with millions of lights and the show will include new lighting displays and activations, as well as a bigger festive market, two food gardens and Santa’s Grotto. This year’s event will have three entry times, 6pm, 7pm and 8pm, allowing for social distancing and there will no longer be tickets for sale at the door. Get ready to pick! The annual Litchi-picking festival will take place (on a farm near the Flag Animal Farm on Sheffield Beach road) from 16 to 31 December. Entrance is R150 (cash only) per person, which includes eating as many litchis as you can while picking and taking home 6kg each! Toddlers (age 3 and under) pay R50 (no bucket to take home). Extra buckets are R100. There will be food and drinks available and no cooler bags or boxes may be brought in. No bookings, so it’s first come, first served!
