We are already knee-deep into this month and working hard on our February edition, but today we are taking a moment to reflect on the magnificent ‘Moroccan picnic’ themed year-end function we had with our sister brands, The North Coast Courier and Wordsmiths Marketing at the end of last year.
Vibrant colours, beautiful patterns and rich, exotic flavours … there is something quite dreamy about Morocco! Ah and a picnic. Fresh air, water, birds (maybe a few bugs, haha) … nothing brings you down to earth and forces you to relax quite like settling down on the grass and enjoying a drink and a meal with others.
THE VENUE
The venue for our picnic was the 480 ha Fairview Estates. We were invited to set up alongside one of their dams and we were able to enjoy the sights of sounds of nature in a truly beautiful spot.
THE SET UP
The lovely team from Simply Fabulous Events coordinated the décor, planning and set up for our event and did so with professionalism and care. We were also very grateful to have a the stretch tent, supplied by Extreme Events, to keep us cool in the hot sun (and in case of a little drizzle!).
THE DECOR & FLOWERS 
Ever talented, skilful and passionate about what she does, Cindy from Love Laugh turned the Moroccan picnic vision into a reality with her magnificent, bold floral pieces and stunning tableware and décor pieces.
THE FOOD
What’s a Moroccan party without a shawarma?! We enlisted the best in town and got the awesome team from Shwarmatac Food Boat to keep us hydrated and fed on the day. We indulged in delicious mezza platters to start, followed by beef, chicken, lamb and vegan shawarmas. Yum!
THE SWEETS 
How could we not end the day off with cake? All the best things end with cake, surely? The skillful Janine from Milk & Honey gifted us with the most magnificent turquoise creation, adorned with purple orchids and splatters of gold … and it was absolutely delicious! Everyone got to take home a lovely Moroccan-themed cookie, which were supplied by Elaine from Love Baking.
