Lots of Easter and holiday fun…

3 APRIL – Charlotte’s Web
What better way to spend a warm, Sunday autumn afternoon than with a picnic and a live show in the beautiful Durban Botanic Gardens? Following the sell-out success of this heart-warming family show in 2021, Kickstart Theatre Co returns with their charming production of Charlotte’s Web, featuring the original cast, in the lush and leafy Botanic Gardens Amphitheatre. This play for young audiences is the perfect holiday treat for all ages and the shady amphitheatre is ideal for picnics and will be open for seating one hour prior to each performance. Audiences are invited to pack their own refreshments, bring their picnic blankets and cushions and arrive early for a fun outdoor picnic-theatre experience! Tickets are R150 (adults), R120 (children under 12 and pensioners) and seating is unreserved (but will be allocated according to responsible social distancing regulations on arrival at the venue). This is definitely one for the boys … and girls who love wheels! We are so looking forward to seeing the country’s top drifters come together to face off in South Africa’s most prestigious drifting event, the Red Bull Car Park Drift South Africa National Qualifier, at Suncoast on 9 April! The Red Bull Car Park Drift made its way to South African shores for the first time last year, and Guinness record holder and judge Abdo Feghali marked the occasion by drifting a Nissan 350Z through the streets of Durban! Drifting is one of the most exciting and fastest growing disciplines in motorsport and participants from all over the country will be put through their paces until the top 16 are selected to go head-to-head on 9 April. Tickets from R250 at Computicket. Follow Red Bull South Africa on social media for more info.

14 APRIL – Splashy Fen
It’s Splashy Fen time … and this year the show is going on! Situated in the rolling foothills of the Drakensberg, the much-loved five-day music festival is back after a two-year Covid-induced break and, as always festival-goers can look forward an epic event! There will be four main stage areas and the very best of local music talent lined up throughout the weekend from 14 to 18 April. This is an outdoor experience you do not want to miss! Tickets are limited and no day-visitors are permitted, so make sure you book soon! Details: www.splashyfen.co.za, [email protected]

30 APRIL- Umgeni Steam Railway
How does a vintage train ride through the Valley of 1000 Hills sound? We think it sounds pretty amazing. The beautiful Umgeni Steam Railway train departs from Kloof Railway Station on Saturday and Sunday over the Easter weekend, as well as Saturday 30 April and Sunday 1 May. Trips are from 8.30am to 12.30pm and the wonderful high-back green leather seats, wooden trimmings and sand-blasted logo on the old pull-up windows all add to the experience and ambience of stepping back in time for a joyous ride from Kloof to Inchanga and back again. There are loads of interesting things to see at Inchanga, as well as a selection of gifts, décor, homemade clothing, crafts, books, edibles and trinkets at the market.
