A glowing bride

There are a handful of days in every woman’s life where she wants her skin to be as perfect, glowing and healthy as possible. Her wedding day is sure to be at the top of that list.

While we all spend loads of time planning our wedding timeline down to the last detail, we often forget to take a moment to think about preparing our skin before the big day. The clever team from Lightsculpt aesthetic clinic in Umhlanga share a few tips on creating a wedding skincare timeline and establishing a routine to ensure you have a radiant ‘wedding glow’ on your special day.

1. INVASIVE SKIN TREATMENTS (12 months out)
If you have acne, melasma, hyperpigmentation or acne scarring, now is the time to start the process. Micro needling and ‘light’ laser require a series of treatments to achieve the best results. These treatments will clean your pores, reduce acne and inflammation and make your skin bright and clear. Fractional laser treatments even out skin tone, reduce fine lines and wrinkles and pigmentation and stimulate collagen production.

2. HOME CARE ROUTINE
We recommend having your skin assessed and a tailored skincare routine set out for you by a professional. Be sure to include products with active ingredients like Retinol (vitamin A), vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid in your routine as these will enhance the results of in- clinic treatments. Incorporating a weekly mask as well as exfoliation is a great way to remove dead skin cells and hydrate the skin. Staying on top of your skincare routine is super important. Remember to cleanse, exfoliate and moisturise – and use sun protection always! Your future skin will love you. Some of our most loved ‘wedding glow’ products include IS Clinical Pro-heal serum, IS Clinical Active Serum and Motherkind Glow collagen.

3. CHEMICAL PEELS
For best results, it is recommended to have monthly chemical peels to maintain healthy skin goals. Regular peels will help to increase the cell turnover of your skin as well as reduce fine lines and wrinkles, produce more collagen, and increase skin hydration

4. A WEEK BEFORE THE WEDDING
At Lightsculpt, we offer the ‘red carpet’ treatment, which includes the IS Clinical Fire & Ice peel, which we recommend doing three days before the big day. This treatment instantly brightens, smooths and tightens the appearance of the skin.

5. THE NIGHT BEFORE
We recommend the active peel system IS Clinical for the night before your wedding. This product has many benefits that will leave your skin feeling smooth and hydrated. Getting a full night’s sleep is also important, so that you will wake up feeling fresh and your skin will look rejuvenated.

6. THE BIG DAY
On the morning of your wedding, perform a minimal version of your normal routine. Keep it simple and use your everyday products that you know work for you. Avoid using a heavy moisturiser that won’t sit well under make-up.
