Art, birds and all the winter beach fun this July!

02 JULY
The highlight of our winter calendar, The Ballito Pro presented by O’Neill, is back! It’s taking place between 29 June and 10 July at Ballito’s Willard Beach and includes world-class surfing action, the exciting Ballito Pro Skate Jam competition and, of course, loads of festival fun! The festival programme is jam-packed with fun and activities, both during the day and at night for the duration of the event, and the much-loved retail area will be up and running down at the beach, with local businesses and event sponsors selling various items. There will also be loads of beach fun-in-the sun every day and the ‘After Dark’ element, which includes the return of the much-loved Ballito Pro music concerts on 7 and 8 July. The stunning new exhibition currently running at The Gallery at Lifestyle Centre Ballito couldn’t be more suited to the North Coast. Having opened in the same month World Oceans Day was celebrated (on 8 June), the exhibition, ‘Tidal’, is centred around honouring and celebrating our magnificent coastline. “This exhibition honours the power of the sea and all it gifts us. It is not too late to protect our precious oceans,” says exhibition curator, Jane Digby. A highlight of the exhibition is local artist Leigh Bisset’s two large and poignant installations (using reclaimed fishing materials) positioned outside The Studios. There are also two magnificent bronzes by Robert Rorich on exhibition and 2D work by more than a dozen artists. The exhibition runs until 31 July. Details: @thegallerylifestyle.
