We joined Misology the Mixologist and Jenny Morris \u2013 aka the Giggling Gourmet – for a showcase of fine American spirits, including America\u2019s native spirit \u2013 Bourbon. The two showed off their stuff with superb cocktails and Chocolate Bourbon Balls \u2026 and things just kept getting better and better (and certainly in the Get It camp, more and more merry).<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\n<\/strong>A highlight from the Cheers! Spirits from the USA campaign were Jenny\u2019s Bourbon Almond truffles \u2026 just the thing for you to make this festive season to share with friends and family. Here\u2019s how \u2026<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll need\u00a0 half a cup almonds, finely crushed; one cup shortbread biscuits crumbs; one-eighth teaspoon salt; half a cup Bourbon; three-quarters of a \u00a0teaspoon almond essence; one cup icing sugar; three tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder; one-and-a-half tablespoons honey; and to garish \u2013 three-quarters of a cup vermicelli chocolate for rolling the truffles.<\/p>\n

Place the biscuit crumbs and nuts into the bowl of a food processor. Place the Bourbon, almond essence, icing sugar, cocoa powder and honey into a bowl and stir together until smooth. Spoon the Bourbon mixture into the biscuit mixture and pulse until just combined. Spoon the mixture into a bowl and gather it into a ball. Let it rest at room temperature for 60 minutes. Divide the mixture into balls and roll them in chocolate vermicelli, making sure they are covered evenly. This makes 12 truffles.
