James and Kerryn Greene take inspiration from the North Coast lifestyle to create swimwear that is laid-back and fun.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\"\"Most North Coast locals will recognise the bright colours and quirky designs for which Breazies is so well-known. For husband-and-wife team James and Kerryn, the North Coast lifestyle is the very essence of their brand.<\/p>\n

\u201cBreazies was started in Salt Rock and this beautiful seaside town will always be part of the brand,\u201d says Kerryn. They launched their first men\u2019s swim shorts in 2017 and quickly expanded to include matching shorts for fathers and sons. This year marks the launch of their eighth collection, which now includes swimwear for women and girls, as well as a range of linen clothing.<\/p>\n

\"\"With a background in graphic design and photography, Kerryn is kept busy with the day-to-day operations of the business, including design work and photoshoots, while James runs the back office. The illustrations are created by James\u2019 sister Steph. \u201cIt\u2019s a real family affair,\u201d laughs Kerryn.<\/p>\n

She says she always wanted to have her own business. \u201cI was desperate to be an entrepreneur. I left a corporate job to start my own baby clothing brand before joining Breazies full-time. \u201d Working together as a couple has had its challenges. \u201cWe wouldn\u2019t have it any other way,\u201d laughs Kerryn. \u201cWe\u2019ve got into a good groove, especially now that we have the right infrastructure and a great team. We\u2019re able to focus on the bigger picture for the brand.\u201d<\/p>\n

All of the Breazies clothes are printed and manufactured locally, and although the couple take some inspiration from global trends and fashion brands, most of their design decisions are based on a gut feel. When it comes to the distinctive illustrations, Kerryn says they are always on the lookout for fresh ideas. Wild animals, sea creatures and tropical fruits are among their most popular motifs.<\/p>\n

The look is all about living your best life in summer<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cThe look is all about living your best life in summer,\u201d says Kerryn. \u201cWe\u2019re also very proudly South African and try to keep a lovely, local feel.\u201d<\/p>\n

The couple have two children \u2013 five-year-old Matt and two-year-old Elle \u2013 and although the business keeps Kerryn extremely busy, she says she wouldn\u2019t trade it for anything as it allows her the flexibility to spend time with her kids. In their free time, the family loves to go to the beach, spend time with family and friends and stay active with running, pilates and yoga. They have recently opened a new store at the Old Biscuit Mill in Cape Town and are very excited about growing the brand. \u201cWe are really looking forward to a good energy and vibe this summer,\u201d says Kerryn.<\/p>\n
