When designer Jacqui Boyd first stepped into the space, she immediately envisioned a home that would blend sophistication with tranquillity. “The panoramic ocean views were a key inspiration,” she says. “I wanted to connect the interior to the horizon, letting natural light flood the space.”
\nWith expansive floor plans and seamless transitions between rooms, Jacqui designed the penthouse to feel open and airy. She chose neutral tones of sand, cream and deep blues to evoke a serene coastal atmosphere. High-end finishes, like automated curtains, rich woods, leather and luxurious fabrics, add a touch of elegance. \u201cIt\u2019s all about balancing modernity with comfort,\u201d she explains.<\/p>\n

AN ARTISTIC VISION<\/strong>
\nCustom artwork was carefully curated by Franklin Markram to enhance the home’s artistic ambiance.
\n“One piece was even inspired by an art installation in a New York fashion magazine’s editorial offices,” she reveals. Bold wallpapers accentuate feature walls, while muted, ocean-facing walls allow the view to take centre stage.<\/p>\n

\"\"DESIGNING WITH THE COAST IN MIND<\/strong>
\nThe coastal setting deeply influenced Jacqui’s design approach.
\n“I wanted to create a seamless flow between the indoors and the natural beauty outside,\u201d she explains.
\n“Light, airy materials and a neutral colour palette with gold inserts reflect the sand, sea and sky.”
\nLarge, floor-to-ceiling windows offer uninterrupted ocean views, filling the space with natural light. “I used dark solid wood to evoke the raw beauty of the coastline and add warmth.”<\/p>\n

\"\"LAYERING CALM AND TEXTURE<\/strong>
\nSoft, tonal textures are central to the penthouse’s design.
\n“Layering is essential to creating a peaceful and luxurious atmosphere,” says Jacqui. “Soft hues like sand, ivory and blues are carried across fabrics – from plush rugs to velvet cushions – to create a harmonious flow.”
\nThe combination of materials – solid wood dining tables, woven throws and rich linen upholstery – creates depth and warmth.
\n“It’s about inviting the senses to experience both visual and tactile calm.”
\nBy mirroring the gentle shifts of the sea and sky, the design feels naturally connected to its surroundings.<\/p>\n

\"\"MINIMALISM WITH HEART<\/strong>
\nBalancing minimalism with warmth is no easy feat, but Jacqui achieves it with grace.
\n“The minimalist approach is reflected in clean lines and open spaces,” she says. “We created separate areas within the large living space, each with a different use.”
\nNatural materials like timber, soft textiles and tactile finishes add cosiness without sacrificing style.
\n“It’s about quality over quantity,” she adds, pointing to statement pieces like a striking dining table and discreet sculptural art. Even the beds were thoughtfully chosen. “They’re higher, with dramatic headboards, so you can relax in bed with a coffee and watch the ocean.”<\/p>\n

\"\"A SERENE SANCTUARY<\/strong>
\nUltimately, Jacqui hopes the penthouse provides a sense of calm and effortless luxury.
\n“When someone walks in, I want them to feel a connection to the ocean and an immediate sense of tranquillity,” she says.
\nBeds are dressed in luxurious linens that invite relaxation. “Even just looking at them, they feel comfortable,” she smiles.
\nWarm materials and meticulous attention to detail create a space that feels like a personal sanctuary.
\n“It’s about seamless flow – where indoors meet outdoors, and every corner feels like an invitation to linger and enjoy the beauty of life by the ocean.”<\/p>\n
