For 20 years, Get It. Ballito. Umdloti. Umhlanga has been your go-to for local stories, style, food, people and places that make life in our region so special. Over the years we\u2019ve laughed, celebrated and – most importantly – shared the spotlight with the people who make our community tick. To mark this milestone, we asked our team to reflect and share a few moments that have shaped the experience so far..<\/p>\n

JENNIFER CAMPBELL, EDITOR
\n<\/strong>How long have you been with Get It?<\/strong>
\nAlmost three years.
\nWhat\u2019s your favourite thing about working on the magazine?
\n<\/strong>It\u2019s an incredible privilege to meet people in our community and to hear their stories and for them to trust me to tell those stories well. I get to make genuine connections with people from all walks of life. There\u2019s something very special about being invited into someone\u2019s world, even if it\u2019s just for a few hours.
\nWhat do you think is the biggest reason Get It is still successful 20 years later?<\/strong>
\nI think it\u2019s because Get It has always stayed true to its heart, celebrating local. We shine a light on real people, real businesses and real stories. We evolve with the times, but we never lose sight of the fact that connection is what matters most. People want to see themselves and their neighbours reflected in the pages, and that sense of belonging keeps readers coming back.
\nMost memorable experience?<\/strong>
\nWe\u2019ve had so many incredible experiences as a team. One highlight was being hosted by Thonga Trails and walking from Kosi Bay to Sodwana.

\n<\/strong>Almost eight years.
\nWhat\u2019s your favourite thing about working on the magazine?
\n<\/strong>I love seeing all the gorgeous lifestyle products we\u2019re so fortunate to have locally, and I really enjoy proofreading the profiles for each edition. It\u2019s rewarding to help bring each issue together, both in print and online.
\nWhy do you think Get It is still successful 20 years later?<\/strong>
\nOur community truly sees the value of a quality, well-written local magazine. We celebrate the people, businesses and stories that matter and that connection has kept us relevant.
\nMost memorable experience?<\/strong>
\nRestaurant reviews! We\u2019re privileged to enjoy incredible food in Ballito and Umhlanga. One of my favourite themed shoots was our Easter table set-up in Zen Park, where we enjoyed picnic treats, champagne and time with the team.

\nThe entire creative process – reading inspiring stories and bringing them to life through layout and design in a way that reflects each story\u2019s personality.
\nWhat do you think is the biggest reason Get It is still successful 20 years later?<\/strong>
\nConsistently delivering quality content that is locally focused, on-trend and informative.
\nMost memorable experience?<\/strong>
\nThe padel event in 2024 stands out. Seeing women of all ages come together – strong, confident and looking their best – was incredibly inspiring.

\nBeing deeply connected to our local community. I love building genuine relationships with local businesses and providing a premium platform to showcase their products and services with pride.
\nWhat do you think is the biggest reason Get It is still successful 20 years later?<\/strong>
\nWe\u2019ve always had deep local roots, and we engage genuinely with readers, while building lasting relationships with advertisers.
\nMost memorable experience?
\n<\/strong>We\u2019ve had many incredible events and trips, but one highlight was being hosted at Rhino Sands for two unforgettable nights for a travel review.

\nThe creative process when our team gets together to do page planning and build the magazine.

\nWe stay locally relevant while building strong relationships with our clients.
\nMost memorable experience?
\n<\/strong>The Women\u2019s Month event we organised with Rainmaker Marketing. It was loads of fun and I shared the day with some wonderful women.

\nTransforming ideas into visual stories. I love taking the editorial vision and bringing it to life through layout, typography and imagery.
\nWhy do you think Get It is still successful 20 years later?<\/strong>
\nIts genuine connection to the community. The content always feels relevant, aspirational and locally meaningful.
\nMost memorable experience?<\/strong>
\nOur stay at Yembeni Bush Lodge. From luxury suites and incredible meals to game drives and evenings around the bonfire, it was a magical team experience.
