Safari photographer Jemma Wild is redefining what it means to travel with a baby, showing that motherhood doesn\u2019t mean stepping away from the wild, but stepping into it differently.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

\"\"<\/a>Based on the North Coast, Jemma has spent the past seven years capturing the beauty of some of Africa\u2019s most sought-after lodges. When she welcomed her daughter, Bradley, her approach shifted. Where many see motherhood as a pause, Jemma saw possibility.<\/p>\n

Travelling through the bush with Bradley from just two months old, she has embraced a slower, more intentional way of working. Together with her husband Guy, she has since launched House of Wild, a safari company focused on helping families experience Africa from the very beginning.<\/p>\n

How did becoming a mom change your work and travel?<\/strong>
\nIt elevated everything. Before Bradley, my days were fluid \u2013 early mornings, late nights, chasing light. Now I work more consciously. There\u2019s a rhythm. I plan with intention, I\u2019m more aware of energy and pace. It\u2019s grounding, and creatively, it\u2019s added depth.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Bradley went on her first safari at two months. What was that like?<\/strong>
\nWe were doing what we\u2019ve always done, just with a tiny human along. She\u2019d sleep on me during game drives, and when we stopped, she\u2019d feed and carry on.<\/p>\n

I remember one sunrise drive, looking at her and thinking, this is the best moment of my life.
\nWhat surprised me most was how easily she adapted. The bush is calm \u2013 the sounds, the air, the pace.<\/p>\n

Do babies and safaris mix?<\/strong>
\nYes, if you let go of the idea that safari has to look a certain way. It\u2019s about choosing the right lodges and slowing down.<\/p>\n

Bradley is one now, and those early months were some of the best. The benefits far outweigh the worries \u2013 nature, fresh air, and teams who genuinely welcome families.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Your top tips for travelling with a baby?<\/strong>
\nChoose calm, family-friendly lodges. Keep your days flexible and follow your baby\u2019s rhythm.
\nPack smart, but don\u2019t overdo it \u2013 check what\u2019s provided. And stay relaxed. Babies feed off your energy, and the right guides make all the difference.<\/p>\n

A favourite moment so far?<\/strong>
\nWatching her see her first rhino at six months \u2013 arms flapping, making little sounds. I was completely undone.<\/p>\n

One thing you never travel without?<\/strong>
\nA well-stocked nappy bag and her giraffe doo-doo, Gus. Something familiar makes all the difference.<\/p>\n

A favourite family-friendly safari spot?<\/strong>
\nMarataba Safari Lodge \u2013 it\u2019s exceptional for both kids and parents.<\/p>\n

What has motherhood taught you about the wild?<\/strong>
\nThat the magic isn\u2019t only in the big sightings. It\u2019s in the quieter moments. Bradley has reinforced that. She doesn\u2019t rush, and it\u2019s reminded me not to either.<\/p>\n
