Now is your time to shine&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Local doctor-turned-novelist, <a href=\"https:\/\/getitmagazine.co.za\/ballito-umhlanga\/blog\/2020\/02\/21\/patients-and-pens\/\">Keli Hariparsad<\/a>, who we featured recently when her book <a href=\"http:\/\/krest.lochanmedia.co.za\/product.php?productid=13&amp;cat=0&amp;bestseller=Y\">The Durban Four Hundred<\/a> was published, has joined forces with Krest Publishers and is calling all creative writers to use this lockdown time to take part in their Short Story Competition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who can enter:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 South African citizens of any age and from any province.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Anyone with a good story, even if you aren\u2019t a professional writer!<\/p>\n<p><strong>What to write about:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Your short story should be under 2000 words and can revolve around any of the following topics:<\/p>\n<p>1.<strong> Romance at any South African landmark destination.<\/strong> Whether it\u2019s a first meeting while holidaying at the Kruger National Park, an anniversary at the Drakensberg, or a proposal on Table Mountain \u2013 the love story is in your hands!<\/p>\n<p>2. <strong>A unique house in your suburb.<\/strong> The house might have secret passageways, magical garden sculptures, or be built of unusual materials \u2013 let your imagination run wild here!<\/p>\n<p>3. <strong>A conspiracy theory is unmasked in your hometown.<\/strong> Whether it\u2019s an alien aircraft cover-up or a hushed scientific experiment \u2013 you can create a character that will expose it all!<\/p>\n<p>4. <strong>A local family facing a problem.<\/strong> Whether it concerns financial difficulties, is about urban or rural households, has to do with job loss, centers on social stigma\u2026 the stories of South Africans matter.<\/p>\n<p>5. <strong>A whodunnit!<\/strong> Whether it\u2019s a murder mystery, crime thriller, or the simple case of who ate your lunch at work \u2013 you can bring out your detective skills in any way you like!<\/p>\n<p><strong>To enter:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Email your story to submissions@krestpublishers.co.za<\/li>\n<li>Use &#8216;Short Story Competition&#8217; as the subject line.<\/li>\n<li>Tell them a little about yourself in the body \u2013 don\u2019t forget to include contact details so they know how to reach you if you win!<\/li>\n<li>Only ONE story per participant is allowed, so choose wisely!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>The prize:\u00a0<\/strong>The winner will walk away with R1000 in prize money, and your story will be published on the Krest Publishers blog.<\/p>\n<p>Competition closes at midnight on 16 April.<\/p>\n<p>The winner will be announced on 21 April.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Details:<\/strong> Meet Keli <a href=\"https:\/\/getitmagazine.co.za\/ballito-umhlanga\/blog\/2020\/02\/21\/patients-and-pens\/\">here<\/a> and see more info about the competition at <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.krestpublishers.co.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/www.krestpublishers.co.za&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1585977580126000&amp;usg=AFQjCNHNqDoJOdrfdIdC4GYmNrAMt5KdYQ\">www.krestpublishers.co.za<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Are you a closet creative writer or author even but have not had the courage to show your work to a publisher or the funds to self publish?
