Stirling Healthcare Centre in Langenhoven Park celebrated the completion and commissioning of its day hospital in January this year.

The day hospital boasts an additional Sub-Acute Care Section, and has admitted its first patients on 10 February. The facility was also available for its first operations on 4 May. The opening of the day hospital is the last in the series of different divisions of this development, among others Self-Catering units for the aged as well as a Frail Care section, which had opened earlier.

The owner of the Centre, Dries Bekker, has 27 years’ experience in the healthcare industry. Angela Waring, operations manager of Stirling Healthcare Centre, says the day hospital is a modern facility offering patients and specialists the best in required equipment and service. The day hospital has two theatres at the disposal of medical practitioners and specialists, of which one is a dedicated ophthalmology theatre. Eye specialist, Dr Japie Vos, has opened his consulting rooms here on 6 January. The second theatre is used for a variety of day procedures.

Patients who require post-operative care and/or rehabilitation, can be admitted to the Sub-Acute ward for quality service and hands on therapy. The electricity of a large part of the Centre is provided by a solar system, which also serves as the roof of the designated parking area. Together with the Centre’s vegetable garden from which fresh veggies are collected for the preparation of meals, Stirling Healthcare Centre forms part of one of the friendliest facilities of its kind in the area.
