Nothing else symbolises love more on Valentine’s Day than a bouquet of red roses. The signature boxed roses, made with love by two friends, make an ideal gift and are sure to express love, admiration and devotion.

Founders of Lodestone Events, Nicole Tsakane Ngwenya and Mathabo Eunice Makakole, are known for their signature boxed roses. These two friends believe in being spoiled in the name of love and take pride in making each rose box with so much love that it is almost as if they are giving away a part of themselves with each box of roses.

Their journey started in 2018 when they met and realised they have much in common. They clicked immediately and as they got to know each other, they realised their relation is like being sisters more than friends. “We actually do most things together, even outside of work. We travel together and share a lot with each other. We fight and make up, as biological siblings would. We’re both Christians, so we really believe finding each other was and is an act of God,” says Nicole.

Though we’re really different aesthetically, we draw inspiration from our travels and likewise from event designers abroad; not only by how they execute their designs but how seriously they take the business and their craft.

“Yes! Though we’re really different aesthetically, we draw inspiration from our travels and likewise from event designers abroad; not only by how they execute their designs but how seriously they take the business and their craft. The event industry also forces those like us to ‘stay on their toes’, especially creatively. This is something that speaks directly to both our personalities as ‘creating new things’ generally excites us.”

As a romantic, she also believes firmly in love, and adds that “We cannot exist outside love.”  To her, love is personified in the act of giving, without expectation, by loving with no bounds and by the everyday act of genuinely being kind to all those around us. Born and bred a Free State girl, Nicole is also a wife and mom of two who successfully balances being a businesswoman and mother in a busy environment.

According to the innovative Mathabo, love is to be led by your heart, to feel at home with someone, to accept somebody unconditionally. Born in Maseru, she moved to Bloemfontein to complete her studies and is currently pursuing her pilot licence. In her free time, she enjoys watching Netflix and listening to music to fit some relaxation into her busy schedule.

“We like to take on the challenge of bringing to life the vision of our clients. The more elaborate, lavish and out of this world, the better!”

The two aspiring businesswomen intended starting with luxury gifting rose boxes as their main feature, but have since ventured into event styling, design and even becoming specialists in unique event concepts, production and catering. Lodestone Events offers event design, curated gifting and even renting of furniture and equipment for events. “We like to take on the challenge of bringing to life the vision of our clients. The more elaborate, lavish and out of this world, the better!”

Red roses are in such high demand on February 14th that it could be tough  to get your hands on them, but luckily this power duo has you covered. For more information, visit their social media platforms at Lodestone events or call them on 060 801 0545.
