“I’m extremely proud that every child that walks through our doors will be treated equally, and they will be loved and taught with the utmost of care. We get to love each child for their unique personality and wit, and enjoy all the funny things they say!”

This is how the principal of Duimpie Pre-primary School, Michelle Du Preez, express her passion for teaching.

Michelle believes she has various traits that make her successful. “I pay attention to every little detail. I make a point of appreciating the people around me. Once I make a decision, I will work extremely hard to accomplish it. It’s important to me to make each child feel welcome, loved, and special,” she says.

A moment that defined her career was while she was completing her studies. “I was afforded the opportunity to complete my practical teaching at Tjokkies Pre-primary under the guidance of Mrs Anna-Marie Venter. She then gave me an opportunity to work as an assistant teacher while I was completing my B.Ed. Hons Degree.”

Michelle says she reads her Bible every morning and as a family they pray together before they leave the house. “Family time is a must and we spend the weekends together, having nice dinners and going to church together. We also have Family Bible study every evening before going to bed.”

2022 will be year of getting back into an exercise routine for Michelle. “At work, our preschool is turning 30 this year! We’re planning a huge birthday bash! We’re also working hard on a total makeover of the school grounds and buildings. It’s a big project!
