The scorching February heat is here, which means we need to show our cars a little extra TLC to help them get through the summer and to avoid any unnecessary maintenance-related costs.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Set aside a little time to run through this checklist to ensure your car is in good working order and ready for the ride:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Engine: <\/b>Ensure your car\u2019s cooling system is working properly by checking coolant levels and inspecting hoses for cracks and leaks. Also, inspect the radiator for debris or dirt that might block airflow.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Aircon:<\/b> Check that the aircon is working smoothly and replace air filters if necessary. This is usually covered by most car services.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Tyres:<\/b> Inspect tyre pressure and tread depth. Hot weather can cause tyre pressure to rise, leading to blowouts. Check your tyre pressure regularly and maintain it within the manufacturer’s recommended range. (You can find a guideline inside your driver\u2019s door.) If your tyres\u2019 tread is low, consider replacing your tyres.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Fluids<\/b>: Ensure oil, brake fluid, power steering fluid, and windshield washer fluid are at the proper levels. The heat can cause fluids to evaporate more quickly.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Battery:<\/b> If your car battery is more than three years old, have it tested to ensure it can handle the extra strain of summer driving? Examine the battery terminals for corrosion and clean them if needed.<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. Breaks: <\/b>Have your brakes inspected. The heat can be hard on a car\u2019s brakes.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
