The company has since developed into a full-service operation, working on commercial and creative projects aimed at amplifying African narratives.

Onkul Swiss’ entry into the entertainment business was driven by a passion for music and storytelling, combined with a desire to close the gap between raw creative talent and high-quality production. His approach has been consistent: build infrastructure, provide access, and raise standards.

“Swiss Productions was born from a small studio setup, a few loyal friends, and a big dream,” he said. “Today, our vision is simple but powerful: to elevate African stories to a global stage using world-class production.”

A major turning point came when the company delivered its first international project. The work marked a step up in expectations and scope, but ultimately affirmed the team’s readiness for larger markets.

“It was a big leap. New market, new expectations, but it was a success, and it validated everything we’d been building,” said Onkul Swiss. “That experience taught me that preparation meets opportunity, and it pushed me to lead with confidence and purpose.”

Swiss Productions handles a diverse slate of projects, from commercial advertising to creative short films and music videos. The team’s structure allows Abimbola to move fluidly between executive oversight and creative development.

On a typical day, mornings are dedicated to strategic planning and project management. Afternoons are booked with client meetings, shoots, or studio sessions. Evenings are set aside for creative work which includes developing concepts, reviewing music, or collaborating with his team.

Despite the long hours and constant demands of the entertainment industry, Onkul Swiss says the impact of the work remains his primary motivation.

“Seeing how our work affects people, whether it’s a young artist gaining recognition or a client moved to tears after seeing their vision come alive, that’s the fuel,” he said. “And then there’s my team. They believe in this just as much as I do.”

His leadership style is informed by a strong personal value system rooted in discipline and humility. He credits his father for shaping his character and also acknowledges mentors such as Kelvin Lempeche (Kelvin Flavours), Arnold ‘Anza’ from Main Stage, and Jabu from Concept Pitch for their early support.

“To me, being a gentleman in business is about integrity, respect, and presence,” he said. “I treat everyone – from interns to high-profile clients – with the same respect. I believe in keeping my word, dressing well, and showing up with excellence, always.”

Onkul Swiss also places high importance on the role of image and presentation in his field. Describing his personal style as Afro-modern with a bold edge, he says branding, both visual and personal, is a strategic tool for conveying professionalism and intent.

“Image is a powerful tool. It communicates confidence, professionalism, and vision before you even speak.”

In discussing the keys to long-term success in the entertainment industry, he points to three principles: consistency, originality, and emotional intelligence. Technical ability, while necessary, is not enough on its own in a business where trust and collaboration drive opportunities.

“This industry moves fast, and you need to stay grounded while adapting,” he said. “Relationships matter just as much as skill. Also, never fake the funk – authenticity is everything. People connect with what’s real.”

As Swiss Productions continues to grow, Onkul Swiss is focused on ensuring the business maintains its creative integrity while expanding into new markets. He views the company not only as a production firm, but also as a platform for others to succeed.

“I want to be remembered as someone who built doors when there were none,” he said. “A man who gave others the platform to shine. Through Swiss Productions, I hope to leave a legacy of creativity, empowerment, and excellence – one that continues to inspire long after I’m gone.”

Text: JUSTINE FORTUIN Photographs: CLEMENT MATROOS

Oluwakayode Abimbola, known professionally as Onkul Swiss, is expanding Swiss Productions from a modest startup into a full-service audiovisual company with international ambitions. “I want to be remembered as someone who built doors when there were none.” As the founder and CEO of Swiss Productions, Oluwakayode Abimbola, better known as Onkul Swiss, is leading one […]

[40,20
7691,7692,7693,7694
0":"post-18937","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-people","8":"category-personalities","9":"tag-building-a-media-brand-to-leave-a-legacy-of-creativity","10":"tag-oluwakayode-abimbola","11":"tag-onkul-swiss","12":"tag-swiss-productions
<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.6 -
