\u201cMy work is my passion,\u201d says Nel. \u201cAnd my love for people brings me the greatest joy next to my family.\u201d<\/p>\n
She founded the business after witnessing the emotional and logistical challenges families face after losing a loved one. \u201cI saw the need for care and compassion during life\u2019s most difficult moments,\u201d she says. \u201cI felt a calling to be that calm, respectful guide when everything feels overwhelming.\u201d<\/p>\n
At Louise Nel Funeral Parlour, families are met with empathy and professionalism. Louise believes her strength as a woman lies in her ability to bring a nurturing touch and attention to detail. \u201cIt\u2019s not just about funerals. It\u2019s about honouring life, legacy and culture,\u201d she explains.<\/p>\n
One of her most challenging seasons came during the Covid-19 pandemic. \u201cRestrictions were tight. Families were grieving in isolation. We had to adapt quickly,\u201d she recalls. Louise implemented new protocols and offered virtual services to ensure that families could still say goodbye with dignity.<\/p>\n
She stays grounded by keeping her schedule organised and drawing strength from a small pendant gifted to her by her mother. \u201cIt reminds me of my roots and the importance of leading with empathy,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n
Balance is important, even in a profession that demands constant availability. Louise makes time for her grandchildren, gardening, and quiet reflection. \u201cThose moments keep me centred,\u201d she says. \u201cBeing present, both at work and at home, is key.\u201d<\/p>\n
Though she once dreamed of becoming a police officer, Louise believes her purpose found her. \u201cI may not wear the uniform, but I provide support and dignity in some of the hardest times in people\u2019s lives,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n
