According to <em>Solo Traveler<\/em>, the trend continues to grow year on year. But what else does their data reveal?<\/h3>\n<p>Their annual survey shows that a large percentage of women over 50 choose organised tours and cruises for hassle-free travel.<\/p>\n<p>The 2024 <em>Solo Traveler<\/em> Reader Survey included 26 questions. Over 80% of respondents were women, American, held university or graduate degrees, and were over the age of 55. Here is what their data showed:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>22% had taken two trips in the last year, and 43% had taken three or more trips in the last year.<\/li>\n<li>32% plan to visit Europe in 2025, while 19% are undecided on their next trip \u2013 leaving a large number open to influence on their destination.<\/li>\n<li>Price and safety were the top two factors influencing their decisions (77% and 76% respectively), with weather ranking third (58%).<\/li>\n<li>75% take trips of two weeks or longer.<\/li>\n<li>90% prefer an escorted tour some or all of the time; only 10% said they never take tours.<\/li>\n<li>The top two reasons for taking tours are:\n<ul>\n<li>They can visit places they wouldn\u2019t feel confident exploring independently.<\/li>\n<li>They can let the tour operator handle all the planning and manage the details at the destination.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Price and group size are the two most important factors in deciding which tour operator to travel with.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Compiled by Warren Hawkins\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Source: Solo Traveler<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Over the past few years, solo travel has become a major trend \u2013 not only for adventurous spirits, but also for content creators and digital nomads.
