Stylish Celebrations

There is always something special about ringing in the New Year surrounded by friends and family. Instead of going out (or going to bed early!), why not host your own cocktail party this year.

All it takes are some yummy canapés, a few great cocktails and a little thought about the décor – and you’ll be singing Auld Lang Syne and welcoming in 2019 in sophisticated style!

Ballito’s Posh Events by Design owner Tash Parsons says styling your own cocktail table can be really simple with just a little planning and preparation. We asked her to set up a table for us at the very popular 14 on Chartwell restaurant and bar in Umhlanga, and executive chef Jeane Morkel adorned it with beautiful canapés and trendy cocktails.

Tash shared some of her expert advice. “My only real piece of advice in terms of styling your cocktail table would be to keep in mind that ‘simplicity is the key to sophistication’. You can stay on trend while still keeping the décor elements simple.

“Focus on one large focal point and then layer the smaller décor elements in. Don’t try and go too big and over-complicate the design. Keep it themed, keep it simple and keep it classy!”
