NATURE LOVERS HERE’S YOUR CHANCE TO GET ACTIVE AND SUPPORT MARINE CONSERVATION!
The Philocaly Trail (meaning the Love of Beauty) is a KZN beach walk initiated by Nikki Williamson, which sees participants donating money to WildOceans, Breathe Ocean Conservation and Adopt-A-River. Started in 2019 to raise awareness about the province’s pristine coastline – we have spectacular beaches in KZN, and we simply don’t explore them enough – to date R250 000 has raised been for these beneficiaries.

Due to popular demand another Philocaly Trail will be held on October 23 and 24 (lockdown restrictions dependent). Participants can walk one or both days and the event starts on the Saturday at the Beahwood Mangroves in Durban (please park at either Blue Lagoon or Pick n Pay Hyper and walk to the start as the parking outside the Mangroves is not available) and ends at Umdloti Main Beach car park. Should the Ohlanga River be open to the ocean we will turn back at this point, (due to the chemical spillage), on day 1 and end in Umhlanga. Day 2 starts from Umdloti Main Beach car park and ends at Salmon Bay, Ballito. Both days are about 17kms in length. Bookings close on October 21, so please visit philocaly.co.za or click on this link to enter: https://qkt.io/xT6WcG.
