Cheers to Spring

What could possibly be more appropriate to celebrate spring than the latest bubbly by Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne, inspired by cherry blossom season in Japan. The latest Spring Edition of the Réserve Exclusive Brut Rosé is beautifully packaged … all delicate pink petals against a blue sky. The Brut-style Rosé Champagne, bursting with the tastes of  red summer fruits,  is a gorgeous pomegranate pink  and is absolutely perfect for spring alfresco sipping. You’ll find it for around R780 at good bottle stores.

On a mission to uncover collectables…

Gosh, have we found a hidden treasure! If you love browsing and shopping for gorgeous things, then you will love Wanderlust Collectables on Meridian Drive, Umhlanga Rocks. Originating from owner Haseena Dadabhay’s love of travel, the store offers an ever-changing collection of carefully curated artisanal products from around the world. From Mozambican Coral Tree shoppers, handcrafted bags from Bali and natural toned Kiondo sisal baskets from Kenya, to gasp-worthy Turkish ceramics, embroidered tribal textiles originally made in Kazakhstan, and embroidered cushion covers that were saddle bags in a previous life used by the Banjara (gypsy) people of the Rajasthan Desert.  One of our favourite finds are these Hammam soaps from Turkey, made with olive oil and scented with essential oils like lavender, rose, blueberry and oregano. They smell heavenly, and come in beautiful tins that make practical keepsakes. No plastic, no chemicals, no parabens. What’s not to love?  Details: [email protected] or Instagram: wanderlust.collectables

A radiant repair mask

Winter always takes its toll on our skin, which is why we love to treat ourselves to a nourishing face mask like this hydrating and tissue-repairing Radiant Repair Mask by Pradience, that’s infused with Hemp seed oil for deep skin repair. Linoleic acid, oleic acids and omega 3 oils found in hemp oil can’t be produced by the body, but can play a crucial role in skin health and anti-aging, helping reduce fine lines and wrinkles…which is why this is our go-to face mask for the new season. And it’s so, almost effortless, to use. Simply apply a teaspoon to freshly cleansed skin. Leave the mask on for 10 mins and rinse off any excess. Gentle enough to use close to the eye area. You’ll find it online at pradiance.co.za for R298 (100ml).

A meal made with love…

There is nothing better than food made with love. That’s why our favourite little eatery for the month is… The Lunch Box Dbn, a fabulous little home-based business in Durbs run by husband-and-wife team Hassen and Amina Sheik who totally believe in the power of prayer and thrive on making food that is filled with love. From humble beginnings, community support has taken this kitchen to new heights and new premises, and the couple now thrive on preparing fresh, affordable home-style food (with a twist) for collection or delivery. And it’s not just burgers, parcels and loaded subs, they’ve got salads, pizzas, littlelunchboxers, macho nachos and gourmet sandwiches… like the Toasted Chickapeno with chips, chicken, onion, jalapeno and special sauce… and our personal favourite, The Greenwich.. with chicken and cheese smothered in their famous coconut-coriander sauce and toasted to perfection. It’s a must try for coriander lovers!
