It was all about flowers, food and fundraising at The Pink Phoenix Flower Fiesta hosted by Key-Events at Durban Country Club. Event organisers, Tanya Tostee and Nikki Mitchell-Smith put together a splendid morning for the 200 women who arrived dressed in their finest floral creations in support of the Pink Phoenix Cancer Foundation.
Founder, Sharon Van Straaten, spoke about the high rate of cancer diagnosis in younger age groups; breast cancer survivor, Wendy Gordon, shared her journey of being diagnosed a second time while managing a young baby; and 25-year-old Courtney Hunt, who was diagnosed with breast cancer and is currently in treatment, brought the room to tears when she shared her story. A whopping R32 000 was raised. Thanks to all those who made the event possible.
