Legal professionals Peacock, Liebenberg and Dickinson Incorporated (PLD), mark 20 years of existence with a business move that has enabled them to breathe new life into one of Kloof’s historic house’s and welcoming experienced attorney John Batchelor into the law practice.
The new offices are within the Tudor-styled house situated on St Mary’s Road and built around 1916 by Walter Marriott. Marriott purchased the land in 1907 from Isabella Ann Abrey who inherited the land from her father, John Coote Field, in 1903.
Christened the ‘grand old lady’ by the partners of PLD, the notable house with its high pitched tiled roof and Edwardian timber strips on the front gables, received some TLC from the law firm to help return it to its former splendour, after it was looking neglected and run down. ‘We were able to restore a beautiful old building that needed attention plus it’s a dream come true for us to now be practicing in a building that is so rich in history,’ said PLD director Brian Dickinson.
Opposite to the house’s stately exterior, inside renovations include an ultra modern setting for the PLD offices with a splash of corporate elegance. Conservative settings have given way to contemporary furniture, in hues of browns and metallics, while chic downlights highlight the veneer of the new boarded timber floors and touches of high-tech elegance break the old-school mould associated with traditional law firms.
PLD, established in 1999 with offices in Pinetown, is helmed by directors Brian Dickinson and Eroshini Baldavand. The firm relocated to Kloof in mid-November last year and partnered with John Batchelor, of Batchelor Attorneys. Batchelor has been an attorney and conveyancer for nearly 40 years and has been serving the community of the Upper Highway for the majority of this time. The company is five attorneys strong and has a blend of experienced youth and highly skilled professionals who are devoted to client services.
