Baker Tilly Morrison Murray: Where Everybody Counts

Baker Tilly Morrison Murray understands that auditing and accounting is much more than just numbers. It’s a conglomerate that attests your financial records and produces reports that will show the health of your company while helping you grow your future business aspirations.

With roots dating back to 1914, the firm of Registered Auditors and Chartered Accountants has established itself as a niche player in the local market by offering comprehensive auditing and business advisory services. As an independent member of the global network of Baker Tilly International Ltd, the firm offers outstanding personal service combined with expertise, strength and resources.

Increasing its capacity and services further, Baker Tilly Morrison Murray and RSM SA Durban merged in October 2019. The firm now consists of 10 Partners and 150 staff members, with Susan Stanley remaining as the Managing Partner and the firm’s name continuing as Baker Tilly Morrison Murray.

Commenting on the merger Susan says, ‘This unity brings innovative opportunities for our teams to expand their knowledge and ensures that they have the necessary skills required in today’s modern business world to cope with increasing regulatory requirements.’

The firm recently appointed Nicci Weymouth as a Partner and Kamini Naicker and Sarah-Kate Stocker as Associates. Susan says as the accounting industry is predominantly a male dominated profession, she is proud of these women’s achievements and, grinning, adds, ‘It goes a long way in balancing out the boardroom table with the guys.’

Tilly Morrison Murray and was appointed as Partner in 2005.  Supported by her dynamic and experienced team, Susan was the first female to be made Managing Partner of the firm in 2011. Nicci Weymouth began her journey at RSM SA Durban in 2001 where she first worked in the bookkeeping department. Nicci completed her SAICA training contract and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2011.

Kamini Naicker joined RSM SA Durban as a SAICA trainee in 2012 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2014.  In 2015 Kamini was seconded to America for three months where she gained vast global experience. Sarah-Kate Stocker’s career with Baker Tilly Morrison Murray began in 2010 as one of the firm’s bursary candidates. Sarah-Kate qualified as a Chartered

Accountant in 2018 and was then appointed as audit manager. Susan says the firm prides itself on building long lasting relationships with all stakeholders and aims at delivering quality services by implementing high standards of ethics and integrity. ‘The success of the organisation boils down to its employees and clients. Without these people, Baker Tilly Morrison Murray is nothing,’ said Susan.

Baker Tilly Morrison Murray practices in all major fields of accounting and auditing as well as taxation and offers various specialist services which include financial management, secretarial services, administration of estates and acquisitions and mergers.
