How to Spend More Quality Time with Your Family

It’s getting colder, and with nowhere to go this winter, it’s the perfect time to line up some home-based activities with the family. With that in mind, it’s quite the challenge for many, to find the motivation to go outside during the cold months. Our natural tendency is to snuggle up under a comfy blanket with a hot chocolatey drink, and just “ride it out”.

However, life is all about the moments that create lasting memories. So, round up the household and let’s explore some of our most-loved winter activities.

Fireplace fun and games

Throw down a couple of blankets, a few scatter pillows and indulge in some family-time around the fire. Sugary snacks are always a good option – especially when they ooze with chocolatey and marshmallow goodness. Smores remain a group favourite, and, although messy, give kids the chance to build their own treats.

Another favourite, if you’re feeling adventurous, is retrieving long lost boardgames from the cupboard and testing your world knowledge in 30 Seconds, real-estate skills in Monopoly and your luck in a game of Go Fish. Keep it kid-friendly and make sure to have the camera close by – these memories are too precious not to capture on film.

Family-friendly movie marathons

It’s time to break out the sweaters and PJ’s because you’re in for a cosy night on the couch. To avoid the dreaded what-do-we-watch debate, throw a couple of movie suggestions into a hat and pick a movie to watch. The kids will love Cloudy with a chance of meatballs and Despicable Me, while teens will find pleasure in Undercut Gems and Lady Bird.

Don’t forget the snacks! While we do tend to gravitate towards the high-fat, high-carb comfort foods during winter, opt for some air-popped popcorn, spicy roasted chickpeas or homemade pizza with reduced-fat cheese. Now that sounds delicious!

More YOU-time

In between entertaining the kids and trudging through household chores, there rarely is enough hours in a day to spend on something that you love doing. Can you comfortably say that you’ve read a book in the last month or two? When last have you had the time to leisurely browse the aisles at a clothing store? Sadly, it feels like we are always rushing from one thing to the next, with no chill.

But just when you think things will never change, you find out that the LG TwinWash cuts laundry time in half! The machine is all about efficiency, saving you time and allowing you to get back to what matters the most, be that me-time or finger painting with the kids.

It can also do two loads of laundry in 49 minutes. While it sounds way too good to be true, its EcoHybrid technology enables the LG TwinWash to save water and shorten the drying cycle. Choose between Eco Dry Mode, which uses no water for condensing, or Normal Dry Mode to shorten the entire drying cycle and reduce energy costs.

Finding fun things to do in winter can be a challenge, especially when household chores are at the top of the priority list. And while there certainly is nothing wrong with surfing the internet or playing video games during these cold months, memories are made by enjoying shared time together – memories that will stick with you for life.
