SUP at the Point Waterfront

Durban’s one-stop-SUP, surf and beach shop, Xpression on the Beach’s super-friendly team are passionate about stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) and surfing. Situated on the Addington Beach bechfront, just above the popular Surf Rider’s Café, they hire out boards (along with other things) and they offer lessons. If you haven’t tried it yet, we definitely recommend a session on a stand up paddleboard (hosted at The Point Waterfront Canal), which is great fun for any age group and level of skill. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to have good balance, because they have wide stable boards that do the balancing for you. All you need to do is breathe, relax and become one with the movement on the water. Give it 15 minutes and you’ll be paddling along happily and probably find yourself addicted to this awesome sport. You don’t need to be fit. You just need a desire to learn something new and have fun. Lessons/sessions are 60 minutes each and start from R200 (depending on the number of people you bring along). They also have specials: Ladies Only Wahine Wednesday (R150) and the Saturday SUP Club (R150) that are held in two sessions from 8am to 9am and 9.15am to 10.15am. Hotfoot it on an Eco Trail

A piece of paradise in the middle of Westville, WCC Eco Trails has become a popular walking, trail running and mountain bike route, with something for all family members. The pristine forest has a diverse selection of fauna and flora, and the removal of alien vegetation has opened up the area for bird life. With partners such as Westville Conservancy and Durban Green Corridor, they are able to continue the ongoing process of alien eradication, maintenance and development of the trails while focusing on conservation and the environment as well as empowerment for the community.
