An advocate for mental health awareness and empowering women across the world, Miss South Africa 2020 Shudufhadzo Musida took to social media to share sessions on mental health … sessions that have been instrumental in helping many people deal with their daily struggles.

Crowned when our country was in turmoil, she also turned her focus to the younger generation, penning a book she’s recently launched called Shudu finds her Magic. It is not only meant to entertain and expand children’s imaginations but – more importantly – teach them about bullying.

Aimed at children between four and nine, the book is inspired by Shudufhadzo’s own childhood and the bullying she experienced when she moved to a new province and school.

Published in six languages, and colourfully illustrated by Chantelle and Burgen Thorne, for every copy sold, one will be donated to Childline South Africa and The South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) who help children with issues like bullying and depression. Copies will also be given to literacy organisations like Biblionef which donate books to schools and libraries to help foster a love of reading. R95, from leading book stores. Jacana Media
