Never mind the kids … we’re massive fans of our latest find on the toy market – Mega Construx Hot Wheels. Why? Because it’s a great mashup of two popular brands that might well be taking over our homes, but there’s no doubt they’re keeping the kids occupied… for hours!
With loads of details and great themes, as well as easy-to-follow picture and instruction directions, this new line of toys – ideal for wonder builders aged five and up – combines Hot Wheels Models and Mega Construx building sets for endless customisation possibilities.
Aside from the fact that the pieces are sturdy and durable and the end products look really cool, a major plus is the experience of building, crashing and rebuilding authentically designed hot wheels models, instead of just letting them sit on the shelf. They’re also compatible with the other sets in the series so you can use them interchangeably.
There are three options to play with …
Mega Construx HW Race & Kart Asst (R229,99) A construction set (choose betweenTiger Shark or Bone Shaker) which comes with a buildable vehicle with giant wheels, poseable micro figure driver and authentic Hot Wheels details.
Mega Construx HW Rodger Dodger & Hot Wheels Racing (R399,99) Burn rubber and smash the competition with this buildable construction set that includes the classic Rodger Dodger racer and Hot Wheels Racing monster truck. Think exposed chrome engine, an iconic red, white and blue paint job and giant wheels.
Mega Construx HW Car Customizer (R599,99) Own the road with a fleet of four original Hot Wheels supercars – Rad Rally Cat, Dawgzilla, Night Shifter and Mod Rod. You’ll use the specialized pieces to customize them and create your own hot rods. There are also four poseable micro action figures to take the driver’s seat.
Perfect for rainy days, road trips or simply when you feel your kids can do without screen time, we give these five stars! Younger kids might need a little help, but what’s there to complain about when you’re bonding over a creative effort that isn’t just a once off experience.
You’ll find them at Toys R Us, Toy Kingdom and Takealot.
