The Centre for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (C.R.O.W.) and Compass Cares launched their eagerly anticipated annual calendars to sponsors, beneficiaries and supporters on 13 October 2021.

This year they partnered with talented South African photographer Kierran Allen, who graciously donated wildlife photos to be used in the calendar. His impressive photography of the Great Migration in the Masai Mara inspired the 2022 calendar theme, “Running Wild”. The calendar features a collection of beautiful wildlife photography including photos of the Big 5 in a bold contemporary design.

The A2 wall calendar costs R200 and is packaged in an elegant box to make a wonderful birthday, Christmas, and corporate gift. The calendars are also available as an A5 tent calendar for R100 and CD size desk calendar for R50.

“Over the past 12 months C.R.O.W. has admitted 3576 indigenous animals, the team responded to 1177 rescue calls and released 1022 animals back into the wild where they belong. As one can imagine this is a very costly and resource intensive operation. With the loss of income due to the COVID pandemic, C.R.O.W. needs your support now more than ever, we are in desperate need of rebuilding our vervet monkey enclosures that are over 20 years old and house the vervets in the last two years of their rehabilitation program. The funding raised from the sale of our 2022 calendar will be used for this project as well as cover some of our operational costs such as animal feed and vet bills which together amount to over R50 000 per month.” explains C.R.O.W. Operations Director, Clint Halkett-Siddall.

“I would like to say a massive thank you to Ian and Judy du Randt and the Compass team for their contributions over the past 11 years; not only for the Compass Cares Calendar Campaign, but Ian and Judy have also made donations in their personal capacity when we were in need. Today, we presented them with Honorary Certificates of Membership in recognition of their support and valuable contribution.” said Halkett-Siddall.

Compass Cares, the corporate social investment branch of Compass Medical Waste Services, has raised over 3 million rand toward animal welfare through their calendar campaign for over a decade. They have supported C.R.O.W. since 2012 with vehicle sponsorships, new animal enclosures, upgrades to their operation rooms and clinic, and much more. Compass Medical Waste Services (Pty) Ltd Page 2

“At Compass our values of generosity, grace and gratitude is the moral compass that gives us direction as a Company. When we launched the Compass Cares calendar initiative 13 years ago, we wanted to make a difference in the lives of animals, to be their guardians and give them a voice. We are dedicated to supporting animal welfare organisations like C.R.O.W. and feral cat non-profits who go above and beyond to take care of abused, abandoned and vulnerable animals. They unselfishly give of their own time and financial resources and, most importantly, their love, to take care of God’s amazing creatures.” said Ian du Randt, Managing Director, Compass Medical Waste Services.

The calendar launch also included the Compass Cats 2022 Wild Whiskers Calendar. Each of the twelve kittens and cats in the beautiful A3 calendar has a heart-warming story to share, with some seeking their furever home by adoption. The calendar costs R150 and is packaged in a gorgeous box.
