As schools close for the year and final reports get released, some students may be pleased with their results and others may not be as happy.

“If your grades aren’t what you’re aiming for, take positive steps towards achieving the improvement you’re more than capable of attaining,” says Teneo Tutors Product Manager, Fay Williamson.

Firstly, make sure you are motivated to succeed by setting challenging but realistic goals that are meaningful to you. Work out which subjects or areas need targeting and then draw up a plan of action. You may consider hiring a tutor to help you improve your grades for a particularly tricky subject.

“Online tutoring allows students to connect one-on-one with an expert from wherever they are in the country, receive tailored support in a subject of their choice, at a level and pace that suits their learning needs,” says Williamson.

Tutors deal with closing knowledge gaps, but also have a strong focus on mastering advanced concepts and extending learners. Tutoring can help strengthen subject comprehension, boost confidence and build important learning skills.

“The Teneo Tutors platform allows accessible, live, one-to-one tutoring for grades four to twelve. We currently have over one hundred, hand-picked tutors across all subjects in both South African and British International curriculums. Sessions are 50 minutes long and are offered in English, Afrikaans and isiZulu,” explains Williamson.

The COVID-19 pandemic has altered the way in which we teach and learn, with remote learning emerging as the number one educational technology trend. In line with this, the demand for online tutoring has skyrocketed, with more and more students looking for access to quality online learning experiences.

“Our online tutors have an excellent understanding of what the curriculum requires, are passionate about their subject and are great at explaining content knowledge. They understand that everyone has a different way of learning and set realistic goals for each student to reach their personal best,” adds Williamson.

Make time during the year-end holidays to identify areas for improvement. Plan ahead and find a tutor that can help you achieve your goals in 2022 and beyond.
