Autumn is all about femininity

Like a painter to a blank canvas, fashion designer Shalimar Reddy creates a unique vision for her collections – one where femininity meets edge and versatility is fun.

Designing was a childhood passion that grew into something much more over time for Shalimar Reddy. She fell in love with the idea of creating fashion pieces that projected her inherent desire to make any woman look glamorous and feel confident. And her brand speaks to woman of all ages and has become so popular that it has made it onto the shelves of YDE outlets countrywide.

A successful businesswoman, wife and mother of three, Shalimar’s dream to have tangible works of wearable art was made a reality when she founded Tiamara, named after her two girls Tamia and Samara. Influenced by style icons like Olivia Culpo and Kerry Washington, and inspired by international travel runway trends, Shalimar’s fashion sense, personality and passion has been captured in her range, which is trendy, sexy and stylish.

“I think as a woman it is important to do what makes you happy and what gives you some sense of achievement. Women are power houses … we thrive on multi-tasking and getting things done. Many of us prioritise family and our careers take a back seat, which is ok! Having always enjoyed being a hands-on mum, now that my children are more self-sufficient, it gives me the opportunity to pursue my passion and my dreams and still be very much involved in their lives.”

With summer over, we’re looking quite forward to the season of cosy and to help inspire us, Shalimar shares some of the top Autumn trends and a few useful tips.

“Having had a very dull and unglamorous 2020/2021 (thanks to Covid), I think this season is going to be feminine, and trends will truly accentuate the female form for what it is – sexy and beautiful. From capes to clinched in waists and wide bottom pants, it’s time to say goodbye to sweatpants and t-shirts, and hello to OTT glamour with a whole lot of sparkle!”

Sexy sleepwear is so in! This creme rib knit asymmetric top with matching pants and an off shoulder mocca velvet jumpsuit can be worn for travel or bedtime.

Autumn trends for 2022

Pleathers and knits with ruffles and all sorts of whimsical details are a must have. Pair pleather rust pants with a leopard print knit, with ruffle details on shoulders, and a pair of bright red stilettos or a neutral tone if that works better for you.

Earthy neutrals and bold prints. This works well paired with ankle or knee-high boots, if you are wearing a mini skirt or dress. Add a pop of colour with your lip shade or a statement handbag.

Matching sets are so big at the moment. Matching skirts and tops, or pants and tops in the same print or colour palette. Pair a black knit top with matching skirt, brown boots, a brown belt and a statement handbag.

Jumpsuits are still trending, one of my favourite looks for a night out or just a lunch with the girls.

Keyhole dresses. They are designed in all different styles, to make a statement.

Must haves

Ankle, calf high or knee-high boots – just make sure that you have a good pair of boots for winter.

Make a statement this winter with eye catching colours and bold prints like a bright knit jersey or a bright mini with ruched details. So trendy and sexy.

Chunky bold pieces of jewellery like a thick gold necklace or big earrings, be it costume or authentic, are a must have to complete any look.
