\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Sirloin steak salad with plums, gorgonzola & walnuts <\/strong><\/p>\n Recipe by Elmarie Berry<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n 2 \u2013 4 sirloin steaks\u00a0 |\u00a0 8 plums\u00a0 |\u00a0 1 red onion, thinly sliced<\/p>\n 30 ml white wine vinegar\u00a0 |\u00a0 100 g toasted walnuts, chopped<\/p>\n 100 g gorgonzola\u00a0 |\u00a0 cos\/romaine lettuce, torn\u00a0 |\u00a0 olive oil<\/p>\n 100 g crumbed blue cheese<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Red wine reduction:<\/strong><\/p>\n 500 ml Roodeberg Classic Red\u00a0 |\u00a0 250 ml sugar<\/p>\n 2 star anise\u00a0 |\u00a0 3 cloves\u00a0 |\u00a0 1 stick of cinnamon<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n In a small pot \u2013 add the Roodeberg red wine, sugar and spices. Simmer until reduced to a balsamic reduction consistency.\u00a0 Allow to cool. Season and drizzle steaks with olive oil. Grill or braai steaks for 3 \u2013 5 minutes per side. Allow to rest.<\/p>\n Remove pips from the plums. Grill half of the plums in a griddle pan. Thinly slice the remaining halved plums.<\/p>\n Thinly slice the red onion and toss in a little white wine vinegar. Toast and chop walnuts. Slice rested steak. Arrange steak on a plate with salad greens, grilled plums, sliced plums, pickled red onion, crumbled blue cheese and chopped walnuts. Drizzle with olive oil and red wine reduction [or serve on the side].
