{"id":2365,"date":"2019-07-01T13:52:18","date_gmt":"2019-07-01T11:52:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/getitmagazine.co.za\/highway-berea\/?p=2365"},"modified":"2024-05-31T10:13:42","modified_gmt":"2024-05-31T08:13:42","slug":"sushi-for-kids","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/getitmagazine.co.za\/highway-berea\/blog\/2019\/07\/01\/sushi-for-kids\/","title":{"rendered":"Sushi for kids"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Baby sushi:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>You will need:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 200g sushi rice<br \/>\n\u2022 375ml water<br \/>\n\u2022 45ml rice wine vinegar<br \/>\n\u2022 5ml sugar<br \/>\n\u2022 6 nori sheets<br \/>\n\u2022 A bamboo mat<br \/>\n\u2022 Carrot sticks<br \/>\n\u2022 Cucumber sticks<br \/>\n\u2022 Cooked chicken<br \/>\n\u2022 Avocado slices<\/p>\n<p><strong>Method:<\/strong><br \/>\n1. Place sushi rice and water in a saucepan and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Turn off the heat and leave it aside for 15 minutes.<br \/>\n2. Once the rice is cool, sprinkle vinegar and sugar onto it. Stir thoroughly.<br \/>\n3. Cut the nori sheet in half. Place it shiny side down and put some rice on it. Press down with fingers to a depth of 50mm.<br \/>\n4. Arrange the fillings on top of the rice in a line. Roll up the nori sheet and cut into six or eight pieces using a sharp knife.<br \/>\n5. Place vinegar and sugar in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave on high for 30 seconds. Stir well to dissolve the sugar.<br \/>\n2. Transfer the rice to a ceramic dish and add the vinegar mixture to it.<br \/>\n3. Place a nori sheet shiny side down. Spread the rice over the nori sheet. Then spread two teaspoons of mayonnaise down the centre of the rice.<br \/>\n4. Arrange carrot, avocado and carrot over the mayonnaise. Melt butter in a saucepan over heat and add the marshmallows. Stir until the marshmallows dissolve completely.<br \/>\n2. Remove from the heat and add the cereal. Stir and coat the cereal evenly.<br \/>\n3. Roll out the fruit roll-up and place the cereal on the fruit roll up.<br \/>\n4. Place the liquorice twist in the center and spread out the cereal mix.<br \/>\n5. Wrap the sushi neatly and place in the refrigerator.
