The high heat of the oven crisps the bacon while softening the mushrooms, allowing them to release their incredible flavour into the cheese and sauce. This isn&#8217;t just a pizza; it&#8217;s a celebration of two incredible ingredients that are even better together.<\/p>\n<p>Imagine a slice with a beautiful golden crust, topped with bubbling mozzarella, a rich tomato sauce, savory pieces of bacon, and plump, juicy mushrooms. Each bite delivers a perfect balance of salty, savoury, and earthy notes. It&#8217;s a flavour combination that will make you rethink everything you thought you knew.<\/p>\n<p>So this National Bacon Day, we challenge you to embrace the perfect pairing. Don&#8217;t just celebrate bacon\u2014elevate it with the incredible flavour of cultivated of mushrooms!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mushroom &amp; Crispy Bacon Hash Brown Pizza<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Makes 1 large pizza<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Hash brown pizza base:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>500g large potatoes<\/li>\n<li>1 Tbsp flour<\/li>\n<li>3 Tbsp olive oil<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Toppings:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>100ml tomato pasta sauce<\/li>\n<li>100g mozzarella cheese, grated<\/li>\n<li>100g streaky bacon, cooked until crispy<\/li>\n<li>125g baby button mushrooms, sliced and cooked until golden<\/li>\n<li>Basil leaves, for serving<\/li>\n<li>Salt and pepper, to taste<\/li>\n<li>Olive oil for cooking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pizza Base:<\/p>\n<p>Peel and grate the potatoes with the largest hole of a box grater. Using a clean dish cloth or cheesecloth, squeeze as much water out of the potatoes as you can. Line a microwave safe plate with two layers of paper towel. Spread the potatoes out on the lined plate and microwave on high for two minutes to steam the potatoes. Place the microwaved potatoes into a large bowl and toss with flour and mix well.<\/p>\n<p>Heat the olive oil in a large non-stick frying pan until it shimmers. Add in the potato mixture and press down well to form a solid pizza base. Cook on medium high heat until the base deeply golden brown. Season with salt.<\/p>\n<p>To flip the hash brown, place a chopping board on top of the frying pan. Flip the pan and hash brown onto the chopping board and then carefully shimmy the uncooked side back into the pan. Cook the other side until golden brown. Slide the hashbrown onto a baking tray. Set oven to grill and place rack on upper third.<\/p>\n<p>Build your pizza.<\/p>\n<p>Spread tomato sauce over the base. Scatter with cheese, bacon and mushrooms. Season lightly.<\/p>\n<p>Transfer the hash brown pizza to the oven and cook until the cheese is bubbling and golden brown.
