Celebrating 70 years of life, laughter and belonging, Pinehaven Retirement Village remains a cherished haven where residents live with dignity, comfort and a true sense of community spirit.<\/p>\n

Located in the heart of Pinetown, this popular and well-known retirement estate has an outstanding reputation. \u201cWho would have thought that building a few cottages around the perimeter of this property would eventually turn into the beautiful homes we have today,\u201d said chairman of the home\u2019s board, Mark Leslie-Smith during the 70th anniversary gala evening.<\/p>\n

As one of the oldest retirement homes in Pinetown, generations have called Pinehaven their home. \u201cCountless stories have been shared in the corridors, friendships formed, milestones celebrated and memories made that will last a lifetime,\u201d said Leslie-Smith<\/p>\n

Founded by the Rotary Club of Pinetown, the home offers one or two bedroom flats, with one bedroom and bedsitter cottages available to purchase on an endowment\/life rights basis \u2013 see sidebar for more details.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe world has changed so much in the past 70 years but three things remain constant – the need for a safe and secure home, the need for dignity, and human connection –\u00a0 and that is what we strive to achieve at Pinehaven,\u201d Leslie-Smith says.<\/p>\n

The retirement village has a dedicated board of trustees and members who voluntarily give of their time, knowledge and expertise to guide and make decisions for Pinehaven. Leslie-Smith said, \u201cA lot of them have been members for a very long time and Pinehaven is in their DNA. I thank them for their dedication, and honour them for all the work that has gone into making Pinehaven what it is today.\u201d<\/p>\n

Residents are offered an optional two course lunch, a 24-hour emergency call button, maintained park-like gardens, a grocery shop, hairdressing salon, a hobby room, a thrift shop, laundry, library and lounge. Various community groups, including a residents committee, regularly organise events and entertainment. The retirement estate is also in close proximity to St John\u2019s Centre, Pinecrest Centre, Medicross, Crompton Hospital and numerous churches.<\/p>\n

What Pinehaven has on offer<\/strong><\/p>\n

There are two complexes \u2013 one at 14 Meller Road, consisting of bedsitter cottages, one-bedroom cottages, and one- or two-bedroom flats. There are also one-bedroom flats available for rent; however, there is a six- to seven-year waiting list.<\/p>\n

The second complex, situated at 26 Manors Road, Pinetown, is known as Pinehaven Lodge. The lodge comprises 41 one- and two-bedroom cottages, and all units are sold on an endowment\/life rights basis.<\/p>\n
