One of the most effective ways to conserve water starts with plant selection. Indigenous or climate-appropriate species often require less water once established and are more resilient in hot spells. Look for plants with deep root systems that thrive in summer while still providing colour, texture and structure. Examples include wild sage (Salvia africana-lutea), Cape honeysuckle (Tecomaria capensis), plumbago, aloes and crinum lilies, all of which store moisture efficiently and flourish in the heat.<\/p>\n
