Gabri\u00eblskloof Rosebud Ros\u00e9 is a dry, light and deliciously moreish Proven\u00e7al-style ros\u00e9, with equal amounts of Syrah and Viognier. It\u2019s described as the \u2018little darling\u2019 of Gabri\u00eblskloof\u2019s Estate Range, and is lovely to drink by itself, but also pairs well with light dishes. Simply remove the label and use the cylinder glass bottle for juices or water. R169 from Tops and Makro. <em>Details: bottegasa.co.za<\/em> \u2022 One of our favourite pink bubblies is The Krone Vintage Night Nectar Demi-Sec Ros\u00e9 &#8211; a lustrous pink-copper bubbly, it\u2019s refreshing and fruit-forward, and is delicious with prawns grilled on the coals, with a strawberry cream cake, with rose-water macarons (there\u2019s a Valentine\u2019s meal for you!). Around R150 at your local bottle store. <em>Details: kronemcc.com<\/em> \u2022 It\u2019s new, it\u2019s already scooped a double gold award, it\u2019s chic and captivating. We\u2019re drinking the just launched Zandvliet Shiraz Ros\u00e9, made in the famed Robertson Valley of Roses. All gold-pink, rose petals, melon, strawberries and raspberry coulis, it\u2019s perfect with seafood, fish and light pasta dishes. Around R85 from good bottle stores. <em>Details: zandvliet.co.za<\/em> <strong>\u2022 <\/strong>The prettiest, pinkest, most delish ros\u00e9 is what we\u2019re wanting this Valentine\u2019s Day &#8230; and we found it. The 2019 vintage of Perl\u00e9 de Jean is all ripe, fresh berries, citrus zest and melon, and a froth of tiny bubbles. It\u2019s magnificent with prawns (our meal of choice on the 14th), but lovely, too, with chicken and summer salads. Serve this easy-peasy summer meal, along with a generous glass of Roodeberg Classic Ros\u00e9 2019, and all your Valentine wishes could come true. The salmon-pink wine\u2019s fresh, crisp and is all strawberry and rose petals, candy floss and Turkish Delight, and is perfect with these ginger and lemon marinated chicken kebabs and watermelon and feta salad, two love(ly) recipes by winelands foodie Elmarie Berry. You\u2019ll find this ros\u00e9 at local bottle stores countrywide for around R89 to R95.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Elmarie Berry\u2019s ginger &amp; lemon marinated chicken kebabs with watermelon &amp; feta salad and yoghurt sauce<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chicken kebabs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>You\u2019ll need &#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>6 chicken breasts, cut into pieces suitable for skewering<\/p>\n<p><em>And for the marinade &#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>4 Tblsps fresh lemon juice<\/p>\n<p>2 tsps finely grated fresh ginger<\/p>\n<p>3 cloves peeled and minced garlic<\/p>\n<p>\u00bd tsp chilli flakes<\/p>\n<p>60ml olive oil<\/p>\n<p><em>To make ..<\/em>. Place the chicken pieces in a large bowl and add the marinade ingredients. Mix everything well. Cover, and refrigerate for two to 24 hours. Heat a griddle non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Arrange chicken onto the skewers. Oil the kebabs with olive oil. Cook for about seven minutes on each side, until the chicken is well done. Season to taste. Serve with the yoghurt sauce and the watermelon salad.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yoghurt sauce<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>You\u2019ll need &#8230;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>60ml olive oil<\/p>\n<p>1 cup double thick Greek yoghurt<\/p>\n<p>Handful of freshly chopped mint<\/p>\n<p>\u00bd tsp chilli flakes<\/p>\n<p>Salt and pepper<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>To make &#8230;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Mix the double thick Greek yoghurt and olive oil with a whisk until well combined. Add the chopped mint and chilli flakes and season with salt and pepper.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Watermelon salad<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>You\u2019ll need &#8230;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Watermelon<\/p>\n<p>Feta<\/p>\n<p>Pitted olives<\/p>\n<p>Avocado, peeled and sliced<\/p>\n<p>A handful of fresh basil and mint<\/p>\n<p>Olive oil and black pepper<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>To make ..<\/em>.<\/strong> Slice the watermelon and arrange on a plate. Crumble the feta, and sprinkle over watermelon. Top off with pitted olives, sliced avo, basil and mint.
