It\u2019s time for a quarantini\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The \u2018<em>quarantini\u2019,<\/em> as defined on the internet, is a drink easily made with just a few ingredients that can be sipped on while stuck at home.<\/p>\n<p>Here are a few classic cocktail recipes (aka \u2018<em>quarantini<\/em><em>s\u2019<\/em>) that you can make with ingredients that you can find in your fridge or pantry and your favourite drinks from your bar trolley. Most\u00a0cocktail recipes actually consist of alcohol + sweetener + mixer, and if you really\u00a0want to get fancy, you can throw in some fruit to add\u00a0flavour to the drink.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Homegrown SAgroni\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our nation is standing together during this uncertain time and we\u2019re all feeling patriotic so pour a homegrown SAgroni, using a premium South African gin, Bloedlemoen, and stay at home!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>25 ml Bloedlemoen Gin<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>25 ml Campari<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>25 ml Sweet Vermouth<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>1 Orange peel twist garnish (Pro tip: use a potato peeler)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Stir all ingredients together and strain into a tumbler glass with a big block of ice. Take the twist and squeeze the oil over the cocktail.<\/p>\n<p>Pro tip 2:\u00a0 Run the peel on the outside of the glass &#8211; it gives you a multi-sensory experience with the orange oil on your lips when you take a sip.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>About Bloedlemoen Gin<\/strong>:<\/em><em>Bloedlemoen (pronounced \u2018Blue\u2019d Le Moon\u2019) is a handcrafted South African, small batch local gin made from ten natural botanicals, including the <\/em><em>delicious Tarocco Blood Orange, making it the world\u2019s first Blood Orange gin. We\u2019d recommend Bannermans not only because it\u2019s great value for money but because we like what it stands for \u2013 bravery and boldness. In medieval times, the king\u2019s bannerman would lead the army into battle. The spicy snap of the ginger and whisky make a super simple cocktail taste deliciously complex and comforting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>50ml Bannermans Whisky<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>250ml Ginger Ale<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Lots of ice<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fill a tall cocktail glass with ice. Stir in whisky and ginger ale.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>About Bannermans Whisky: <\/em><\/strong><em>Bannerman\u2019s Finest Scotch Whisky is a Speyside-style Scotch whisky, produced and blended in Scotland, just outside Edinburgh.\u00a0 Bannerman\u2019s is made using older, more complex malt whiskies, which give it a bolder, more complex flavour than other blends and help create its exceptionally long, smooth finish.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7693\" src=\"https:\/\/getitmagazine.co.za\/highway-berea\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/23\/2020\/04\/Bannermans.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"214\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Don Papa Old Fashioned<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rum is the perfect spirit base for a cocktail that will transport your mind to sun, sea and sand. We\u2019ve stuck to an oldie but a goodie for our rum-based cocktail because not only is it delicious but you only need a few ingredients to make it, most of which are probably already in your pantry.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 parts Don Papa Dark rum<\/li>\n<li>2 dashes Angostura Bitters<\/li>\n<li>1 splash of water<\/li>\n<li>1-2 tsp sugar<\/li>\n<li>Cubed ice<\/li>\n<li>To garnish: Orange peel<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Add the granulated sugar and Angostura Bitters to a rocks glass with a single ice cube. Stir the mix until the ice cube has melted enough to dissolve the sugar. Add another 3 to 4 ice cubes and half of the rum then stir for around 60 seconds. Top up the glass with more ice and add the rest of the rum, then stir for another 60 seconds<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>About Don Papa Rum: <\/em><\/strong><em>We all need a little magic and make believe at the moment.
