Despina announced as Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa semi-finalist

Despina Senatore, from Linksfield North, Johannesburg, has been announced as a Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa semi-finalist for 2019, out of a record number of entries received by the organisation.

Her journey began on March 1, when she was invited, along with the other beautiful, married women from all over South Africa, for the second National Casting and Empowerment workshop held at Emperors Palace. Once selected, the semi-finalists attended weekend-long workshops to help them prepare for the journey ahead.

Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa is a pageant and female empowerment programme for married women in South Africa. It is not a beauty pageant in the traditional sense of the word. It offers South Africa women who have real life careers, families and hobbies a platform to make a difference.

For Despina – a mom of three, a wife, facilitator, motivational speaker and an entrepreneur – the Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa pageant is another step in her own personal journey of empowerment.

In 2018 Despina took the courageous step of leaving her 18,5-year corporate career in financial services to pursue her passion for empowering women.

She started her company, Purposeful Woman, with the vision of helping women reconnect with themselves, their passions and their purpose.

Despina is a qualified professional business coach and facilitator of numerous transformative personal mastery courses aimed at women.

“My message to women who attend my workshops is the same message I tell myself, ‘If you want to grow, you need to start getting comfortable with being uncomfortable.’ That’s what this journey is for me, an uncomfortable, but exciting, growth opportunity, aligned to my purpose. Importantly, though, I want to show my children that sometimes you need to take risks and do the things that scare you. They’re still little and get anxious when they need to do something new, so, for me, it’s important for them to know that being scared is okay, but you still need to at least give it a try,” said Despina.

Only 25 lucky women will be selected to continue the journey, as finalists, of Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa. The finalists will be announced at the Annual Charity Ball on June 28, which will be held at Centre Court, Emperors Palace.

All proceeds of this event will go to the pageant’s official charity, Women4Women South Africa.
