The Sibikwa Arts Centre will end Heritage Month with a flourish by celebrating our great cultural richness and diversity on Sunday, September 29, 2019, from 10am to 4.30pm at Sibikwa in Benoni.
The day will be a colourful extravaganza of South African traditional dance, Indian dance and Pantsula. Nineteen traditional dance groups from Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga will be competing for prizes and the dances will encompass all local cultural groupings.
The judges for the competition will be parents of Sibikwa learners and other community members in attendance.
A group of performers from Mbazwane Creative Arts, in the far north of KZN, will be Sibikwa’s special guests for the day. They will present a song and dance piece depicting the various stages of traditional Zulu courtship.
Those attending the Heritage Celebration are encouraged to wear their traditional attire and don their finery to make a splash. There will be prizes for the best dressed male and female.
The day concludes with everyone gathering for a communal bring and braai.
Admission for adults is R40 and R20 for children.
