Caxton East staff show team spirit at race

Staff members from Caxton East showed their team spirit and put their best foot forward on Sunday, October 6, when they participated in the SPAR Women’s Challenge at Marks Park Sports Club in Emmarentia.

Lihandi du Toit, Melanie Engelbrecht, Claire O’Donaghue, Shavaun Cronje, Nicky van Wyk, Ziggy Mkhumbeni and Clyde Meela all arrived bright and early and ready to take on the challenge.

Filled with plenty of camaraderie, the team had lots of fun and enjoyed themselves immensely.

There are many reasons why the Caxton East supports the race, but the main reasons are: the awesome vibe, to socialise, to keep fit and at the same time contribute to fund-raising for charities.

We chatted to some of the team members who took part, and here’s what they had to say:

“I was eager to experience the 5km race. It was my first but definitely not the last. See you guys next year,” said Lihandi.

“I ran the 5km for the third time. I go for the goodie bag– they are awesome. After I’ve run the 5km I feel I’ve earned my goodie bag,” said Shavaun.

“It was my first 5km race. What I loved about it was that I was getting fit while socialising with my friends,” said Melanie

“It’s a social race and I love it! I have done three 5km races and my times get better every year,”  said Claire

According to Ziggy and Clyde, who both ran the 10km race, they took part to show their support for charity and to keep fit.

The Caxton East runners will be at the next SPAR Women’s Challenge, in full force to show their support for this wonderful race.

Management from Caxton Local Media were proud and impressed to see the team spirit and enthusiasm among the staff members and there were loud cheers when Team East crossed the finish line.
