Prepare to be taken for a ride at Carnival City this December. A magic carpet ride! The producers of Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast bring to the stage of Carnival City’s perfectly suited Mardi Gras Theatre their latest offering, Aladdin. This production promises to have the audience, young and old alike, absolutely mesmerised.
The popular story of Aladdin is brought to fairytale and theatre lovers by the O.A.K Youth Theatre, this time with a few interesting twists as the cast of 30 performers take the audience on an unforgettable journey of toe-tapping to a mix of contemporary pop songs and well-known classics from the renowned Disney Musicals, some excellent witty dialogue and beautiful costumes.
Aladdin struggles to accept his mediocre lifestyle and wishes to rise above his current situation. A brief encounter with the exquisite Princess Jasmin, leads to Aladdin being imprisoned. The Sultan’s evil Vizier, Zahar, then persuades Aladdin to retrieve an object from the Cave of Wonders in return for his release and freedom. This mission will change the course of Aladdin’s life somewhat dramatically.
Not to be missed, this family-friendly show takes place at 2pm on December 6, 10am and 2pm on December 7, and 10am and 2pm on December 8. Tickets cost R120 per adult and R80 per child under the age of 12 and are available through Computicket.
“We are all about families and fun this December,” says Michelle Smith, marketing manager of Carnival City. “We have loads of activities and entertainment lined up to keep the little ones busy this holiday.”
