Deliciously funny, Hot Masala Comedy is back at Carnival City

Back at Carnival City after a sell-out show in 2018 is Hot Masala Comedy. This all new, deliciously funny show features stand-up comics and viral video stars Masood Boomgaard and Bash with Tash who have collectively earned millions of views on social media platforms and performed at packed out venues across the country. Also in the mix is comedian Logie Naidoo and rising star Doc Comedy.

Together the quartet will take the audience on a hilarious cultural adventure, tapping into their experiences growing up in Indian communities in different parts of Durban and telling anecdotes about over-bearing parents, drunk uncles and downright crazy grandparents.

The show will also be peppered with great gags on everyday stuff like relationships, the economy, politics and social media. There’s bound to be something for everyone.

Bash with Tash (real name Natashia Portrag) shot to fame in December 2016 when she spontaneously uploaded a comic commentary by herself on Facebook which soared to hundreds of thousands of views. Subsequent videos only heightened her popularity and now she has legions of fans locally and abroad. Bash with Tash is best known for her incredible ability to improvise on stage and her interaction with the crowd. Her spontaneity ensures that no two shows are the same.

Fresh from his recent tours of Dubai, New York and Los Angeles, Durbanite Masood Boomgaard is best known for his unique comedic take on current affairs and trends, tackling a variety of topics from politics and sport to the economy and relationships. Look out for his on-point impersonations of the likes of Donald Trump and other celebrities.

Boomgaard is the face of the Dala U Crew viral video channel and has performed with some of the best in the business across the country and has a few solo shows under his belt. His most recent, “Joker”, has been released on DVD. He also recently appeared on Comedy Central. He also performed his show “African Indian” on London’s West End and received rave reviews.

Fellow viral video star and comic actor Logie Naidoo also joins the line-up. Logie will make a rare appearance on a Johannesburg stage bringing his signature style of laid back, one liner comedy to delight audiences. Logie is best known for his appearances on the Dala U Crew video channel.

And lastly, rising star Doc Comedy will perform in the show, fresh from his recent tour of KZN and his great showing at the Comikaze comedy contest at the Parker’s Comedy Club.

The show takes place on February 21 at the Mardi Gras Theatre, at Carnival City, at 8.30pm.

Tickets are R150 and are available from Computicket.
