What does it take to create a business producing luxury pet treats and accessories? Two black Labradors, two doting pet parents and a passion for fresh, natural produce. These were the main ingredients for the humble beginnings of From The Barkery (FTB). The pet chefs formulated treat recipes using only natural ingredients containing no unnecessary artificial sweeteners or preservatives. From the very first batch coming out of their home kitchen, the same love and care is put into today’s treats.
You’ll find Pup Cakes and Pup Pops on the menu for special occasions, with good ol’ peanut butter the hero of the dish. Treats are produced for cats and dogs, with flavours ranging from sesame and rosemary; kale and blueberry to chamomile and honey. FTB gives customers the option to personalise their treats with their pet’s names.
FTB recently launched its cannabidiol oil (CBD) range of hemp dog treats, made in small batches using only the finest, world-class ingredients, most of which are locally sourced. This is reflected in the reasonable price of R300.
In addition, gift hampers and personalised goodies can be ordered, with boxes jam-packed with flavoursome, nourishing treats for your pet. In addition, FTB offers fluffy, waterproof blankets that are fleecy on one side and furry on the other, with a waterproof inner to keep pets dry.
Each new product is quality control-tested by FTB furry pets, ensuring it’s is given a paws-up before it’s released. FTB believes treats should not only be an occasional joy-bringer but an essential part of a pet’s life.
Products are available to order online and at a number of stockists around Cape Town, the Garden Route, Durban and Johannesburg. Prices range from as little as R15 to R900.
