In lockdown, we’ve inevitably spent a huge amount of time with our beloved pets. Not only did they brighten our moods and ease the tension but gave much-needed comfort during those challenging times.

Now that the worst is over, restrictions and event bans have lifted – what better way to give our pets a day off than at Africa’s biggest pet event, the Pet Expo (previously known as WODAC or World of Dogs and Cats). Up your pet love ante from walks around the block to a fully-fledged, pets-all-round two days of new smells, toys and friends!

If you love dogs, cats, horses, birds, fishes, rabbits or reptiles – Pet Expo gives you the perfect opportunity to spoil your furry family, and your regular family with a huge selection of pet stands, KUSA-affiliated dog shows, cat shows, live demonstrations, educational talks and some exciting entertainment.

If dogs are your passion, you can enjoy watching pure-bred hounds strut their stuff at two KUSA All Breeds Championship Shows: chat to dedicated breeders and exhibitors committed to the future and preservations of their respective breeds, and engage with experts ready to answer questions about health, nutrition, exercise, behavioural issues and more. Agility and dog jumping canines in action in the big ring will leave you marvelling at their stamina and speed while shopping up a storm for your pet family at home.

Cat enthusiasts will enjoy magnificent cat shows; on-hand expertise to answer a variety of feline-related questions and of course, all that shopping. If you have dogs and cats at home, well, you have plenty of time to budget.

The increasing popularity of reptiles and exotics as pets in recent years means that a dedicated team of experts will be present to answer questions about the special skills, needs, diet and habitats required for this pet category.

Don’t miss the Pet Expo on 16 and 17 July from 8:30am to 4:30pm at Montecasino. R140 per adult, R80 per child under 16 years, kids under 5 are free and family of 4 tickets are only R350. Get your tickets here.
