{"id":21180,"date":"2025-08-14T08:00:25","date_gmt":"2025-08-14T06:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/getitmagazine.co.za\/?p=19543"},"modified":"2025-08-14T08:12:58","modified_gmt":"2025-08-14T06:12:58","slug":"malls-confirmed-for-national-cupcake-day-for-kids-with-cancer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/getitmagazine.co.za\/joburg-north\/blog\/2025\/08\/14\/malls-confirmed-for-national-cupcake-day-for-kids-with-cancer\/","title":{"rendered":"Malls confirmed for National Cupcake Day for kids with cancer!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt\">Bake it forward for a Cupcake-Fuelled Campaign of Hope<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 18.0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt\">National Cupcake Day (NCD),\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cupcakesofhope.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt;color: #467886\">Cupcakes of Hope\u2019s<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt\">\u00a0(CoH) flagship fundraising event, takes place on 27 September 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 18.0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt\">In the Johannesburg and Pretoria regions, this year\u2019s mall list has grown, with 24 malls registered in Johannesburg and 8 malls confirmed in Pretoria!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 18.0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt\">In 2024, 21 malls took part in Johannesburg and 6 malls in Pretoria. Nationally, the Day brought together 2,000 volunteer bakers and raised R2,326,347 for kids fighting cancer. As CoH founder Sandy Cipriano proudly says, \u201cWe do have the BEST volunteers in the world.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 18.0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt\">Since their launch in 2012, CoH has supported over 10,000 families. Just last year, they fulfilled 2,568 financial support requests, delivered 3,022 activity care bags to over 21 paediatric oncology wards, and celebrated 111 patient birthdays.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 18.0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt\">\u201cOncologists, hospitals, social workers and hospices all contact Cupcakes of Hope with requests to assist,\u201d says Cipriano.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 18.0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt\">The Cupcake Angels (volunteer bakers) are the foundation that supports everything that is done via CoH. Located around the country, they make and sell cupcakes and donate the funds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 18.0pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt\">\u201cEvery year, countless bakers and volunteers pour their hearts, time, and ingredients into this cause,\u201d says Lori-Anne Hill, Fundraising Coordinator for CoH. \u201cLast year, we had over 800 bakers registered in the Vaal, Johannesburg and Pretoria areas, and their dedication contributed significantly to the total funds raised.
