The Schools Reading Road Show (SRRS), in conjunction with St Benedict’s Prep, is hosting a Children’s Book Fayre, at St Benedict’s College in Bedfordview, on Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 10am to 3pm.

The theme of Bennies Book Fayre is ‘Home Grown’ and it is aimed at showcasing the multitude of authors who write books for children, showing off our incredible national talent and the wonderful variety of stories (in different languages) available.

Money raised through this event will go towards the primary objective of the SRRS, which is taking authors into schools during 2020, to interact with children and encouraging reading.

Bennies Book Fayre will be the first of its kind in South Africa. The book fayre will showcase only local authors of children’s and YA (young adult’s) books. It will host storytelling sessions, panel discussions and various children’s book activities, and the children’s books will be on sale for the public to buy.

At the event there will be authors as young as nine years old who have written stories they believe their peers should be reading. These young authors will be interacting with the public and generally letting the world know that Local is Lekker.
